I, as a graphic designer and artist, enjoyed a visit to the Statenbijbelmuseum in Leerdam. In addition to the historical Bibles with beautiful illustrations and corresponding typography, I found the stories fascinating. The artwork is created out of admiration for old printing.

The collection of the Statenbijbelmuseum is the result of forty years of collecting and includes hundreds of special Bibles, mostly Dutch-language old Bibles, including Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, Lutheran, Mennonite, and Reformed/Dutch Reformed. These (States) Bibles were printed in the period from 1538 to 1950.

Many groups visit the museum, individuals interested in the influence of the Bible on the Dutch language and culture. Of course, you are also welcome individually during regular opening hours; coffee is ready! www.statenbijbelmuseum.nl/en/home
